Recently, following the Girls RealTalk Session at Westlane Middle School, our volunteer, Dana, came to speak with me afterwards. In our conversation, she mentioned that one of the 7th grade girls pulled her aside to speak with her privately. This student opened up about a hard circumstance that she was currently facing. Dana found out that the student is getting really good support from her parents and the school as they are helping her navigate through it. Dana asked the student if there was anything she herself could do to support her in anyway. The first question the student asked Dana was, “Do you believe in God?” Dana answered, “Yes!”. Dana proceeded to tell me that at that moment she explained to her that her purpose for being with the girls every week was because she believed that being with them was what God has called her to do. The student then proceeded to ask Ms. Dana if she could pray for her. She ended up praying for her in that moment and told her that she would continue to pray for her. As Dana told me this, she had tears in her eyes, and said that she could see how God was moving. Even though Christianity is something that is not allowed to be discussed during school hours, it’s absolutely amazing to see and hear how God continues to move in any environment or circumstance! – Krysta Jordan, Crooked Creek City Life Director
