What is "JJM"?
JJM stands for Juvenile Justice Ministry. JJM is a youth outreach program taking place in a variety of institutions (i.e. detention centers, correctional facilities, group homes, residential treatment centers, emergency shelters, etc.) Our mission is to help young people develop a way of living taught by Jesus Christ; balancing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. We build valued relationships that are sustained through ongoing involvement as they re-enter their communities.
FOCAL POINTS OF JJM
Using outreach, bible study, small group programming, and personal mentoring to meet the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs in a young person’s life.
Entering into a youth’s world to build healthy relationships and model Christ-like behavior on a frequent and ongoing basis.
Meeting individually with a young person to provide personal attention and focus on specific needs.
Creating systems and structure for sustained relationships to help teens successfully re-enter their communities.
We believe JJM is effective in reaching high risk teens in their world. It gives us strategic tools to pursue the thousands of young people experiencing the challenges of incarceration, abandonment, addictions, and abuse in institutions and programs all over the United States.
JJM focuses heavily upon relational evangelism. We teach and model “3Story.” 3Story is a way of life that guides followers of Christ to BE good news while telling stories of THE good news. It is natural, friendly, and freeing – as you abide in Christ, His love flows through you to others as you journey together.
THE 5 ESSENTIALS
All YFC ministry sites, including JJM sites, are judged by the vitality of the 5 Essentials needed to bring about real change in a young person’s life. They include:
We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site.
We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus.
FAITHFUL BIBLE TEACHING
We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives.
COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY STRATEGY
We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies, and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.
ADULTS WHO EMPOWER
We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people group.
Right now, we are looking for people to partner with us to help kids staying at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility. The need in the facility is great, and there are so many opportunities before us. To effectively provide what the kids are needing, we need others to join us in this mission. Here is what we are praying for:
Group facilitators, people passionate about teaching and leading small groups
People who are interested in one on one mentorship relationships
